Access Statement for Waterside Guesthouse

Introduction
Situated on the South Kent coast in Dymchurch, we are in a good location for touring the south coast of Kent and East Sussex. Dymchurch town centre is only a 10 minute walk away the same distance to the beautiful sandy beach. There is a regular bus service that takes you to Dover, Folkestone and Hythe and in a Westerly direction you can get a bus to Lydd, Camber Sands, Rye and Hastings. Our nearest town is New Romney which 4 miles from us the nearest Cinque Port or Town is Hythe just 5 miles away. Waterside has 5 bedrooms on the first floor all ensuite 2 of these have baths with grab rail.

Pre-Arrival

• For full details and maps of how to reach us please see the directions section on our website. Alternatively you can plan your journey by car or public transport using www.transportdirect.info ; simply enter your postcode and ours which is TN29 0LN to get directions.
• The neatest railway station is Folkestone which is 13 miles from us but has a regular bus service which passes our front door the nearest bus stop in either direction is approx 100 metres on a level paved path, there is also a taxi rank outside the station.

Car Parking and Arrival

• There are 5 parking spaces in our own car park which is level tarmac approx 12 to 15 metres to front door.
• The car park and path are well lit.
• 1 step access into front door.
• Assistance can be given with luggage.

Welcome Area

• Guests are welcomed into the guest bar/lounge reception which is level throughout, where they are asked to register.
• Seating is availble with upright chairs without arms.
• The flooring is smooth carpet.
• The area is evenly lit with overhead lighting.
• Guests are shown Dining room and their bedroom.

Bedrooms

• All five bedrooms are on the first floor which is up 1 flight of 12 steps with a handrail to the right ascending.
• The height of all of our beds is 22inches/50.60cms from top of mattress to floor.
• Rooms are bright and evenly lit with overhead lighting and bedside wall mounted lamps, additional lighting available on request.

Bathrooms, Shower-rooms & Toilets (Ensuite or Shared)

• All rooms have ensuite facilities.
• 2 of our double rooms have a step in shower.
• 1 double room has a step in shower and a separate bath with 1 grab rail on the left hand side.
• 1 of our twin bedded rooms has a step in shower the other twin bedded room has a shower over a bath with 1 grab rail on the left hand side.

Public Areas - Halls, Stairs, Landings, Corridors

• All public areas, halls, stairs are well lit with ceiling lighting.
• Short pile carpet on stairs and in the corridor.
• There is a continuous flight of 12 steps to the first floor with a handrail on 1 side.

Public Areas - Lounge

• The guest lounge is situated on the ground floor with step free/level entry from the front door and stairs.
• Level entry into the dining room with 1 step down out onto the patio and garden area with Gazebo.
• The guest lounge has sofas and winged chairs with arms also rigid chairs with no arms.
• Lighting is natural daylight with ceiling lights and table lamps around the room.
• Carpet is smooth no pile, dining room is also no pile carpet.

Public Toilet

• There are 2 unisex guest toilets both with wash hand basins, 1 is on the first floor at the top of the stairs to the right and the other is outside to the left of the exit door onto the patio area with 1 step up.
• Both toilets are well lit with ceiling lights.
• The outside toilet has 1 grab rail to the left.

Dining Room

• The dining room is situated on the ground floor with step free entry from the front door and stairs, there is 1 step up into the dining room from the patio area.
• Lighting is natural daylight and levels are controlled by dimmer swithches controlling wall lights, no overhead lighting.
• Flooring is smooth flotex.
• Vegetarians catered for please advise at time of booking.
• Breakfast is served but you help yourself to cereal, fruit, yohgurt and fruit juices.

Garden

• There is a paved slightly uneven patio area which can be accessed from the dining room down 1 step. Tables and chairs are available on the patio and in the Gazebo. There are 3 steps down to the waterside area with more tables with benches, the path here is poured concrete slightly uneven betwen slab joints leading onto a gravel path and 3 long sloping steps with handrail up to the car parking area.

• The nearest General Hospital with A&E is The William Harvey Hospital in Ashford, TN24 0LZ which is 17 miles from us, the nearest walk in NHS is 12 miles away in Folkestone at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Radnor Park Ave, CT19 5BN.
• Free WiFi Internet access is available in all rooms.
